When you blog in WordPress, the excerpt feature can really improve the look and functionality of your blog page – especially if you have numerous blog posts.
This feature makes it easy to provide an excerpt of your post. When using the excerpt feature, try to be consistent with your other posts as to how much of an excerpt you allow. Also, try to insert the excerpt tool at a point midway through a sentence so that the reader has to click on the “continue reading” link to finish the sentence.
Personally, I like to add a small, related image at the beginning of each of my posts to keep my blog page looking interesting. My images are sized at 100×100 pixels and I’m careful to add the alt image text to any images I add whether they are big or small. The image is just one more opportunity to add your related keyword which is great for SEO purposes.
